On August 18, work will begin on seismic improvements for Police/Fire Department Building. As part of that project, the entrance to the Police/Fire Parking Lot will be temporarily reduced and access slowed. Emergency, construction, and related vehicles will continue to have access and active construction areas will be covered with steel plates at the end of the workday, but please do not enter this parking lot unless necessary. 

Impact to this lot is expected to continue to early/mid-September. 

As part of the ongoing Big Shift mega-project extending hot water lines throughout the campus, Parking Lot 6 and parts of Cushing Way will be closed from July 28 - August 25. The nearest alternate parking options can be found in Lot 5, Lot 5A, Lot 10, and Lot 3. 

As part of the AB94 Seismic Improvement Project at the Social Sciences and Humanities Building, North Quad between East Quad and A Street will be closed along with portions of East Quad. Bicycle and scooter riders will be provided with detour direction on site or the option to walk their devices on the sidewalk on the north side of North Quad. 

• Starting on Jan. 20, new stop signs and supporting infrastructure will be installed at the intersections of La Rue Road with Garrod Drive and Bioletti Way, converting them into all-way stops.
• Slow down and watch for traffic controls and flaggers in the area. No detours will be required.

Starting September 2024, parking rates on the Davis campus will increase to ensure Transportation Services can meet its obligation to maintain safe and sustainable infrastructure for our campus community. Monthly permits will increase $5 and daily permits will increase $0.25 for L and M zones and $0.50 for A, C+, and C zones.

Transportation Services is primarily self-supporting and must generate parking revenue to:

• Expect delays for construction on Hutchison Drive and Extension Center Drive from June 24 through July 4:
  • Extension Center Drive closed June 24 - July 4
  • Lot 30 will remain open with access via Orchard Park Drive
  • Intermittent closures of the westbound Hutchison Drive bike lane and sidewalk

• Westbound lane of Kleiber Hall Dr. at Mann Lab will be closed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., from February 19 to March 8.
• During the closure, westbound traffic will be directed through Lot 26.
• Anticipate slower traffic and minor delays.

• Expect delays on westbound Hutchison Dr. and Extension Center Dr. February 14 through 16, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for construction.

Children’s bicycle helmets handed out at events on campus last year have been recalled by the manufacturer.

The helmets, Retrospec Scout in sizes small and extra-small, were given out by the UC Davis Police Department at events like Picnic Day, Thank Goodness for Staff, Take Our Children to Work Day and elsewhere between April and June.

The department distributed 76 of the helmets, purchased with a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.
