To manage congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and meet university sustainability goals, UC Davis students and employees living in residence halls and university-affiliated privatized housing are encouraged to use local public transit, walk, bike, or roll instead of driving to and from campus. As part of this effort, campus residents are not eligible for affiliate parking rates unless they’ve been approved by Transportation Services for a policy exception.

Residence Halls

  • Segundo, Tercero, and Cuarto residents are not permitted to bring or park a vehicle on campus unless they’ve been approved for a policy exception with advance notice.

University-Affiliated Privatized Housing

  • Residents of Russell Park, LaRue Park, The Colleges at LaRue, Primero Grove, 8th & Wake, Sol at West Village, The Green at West Village and Orchard Park may be eligible for parking accommodations at their residence. 
  • Residents should request parking accommodations through their leasing office. Once approved, residents can claim the appropriate permit through the Transportation Services parking portal (see instructions below). 
  • Privatized housing residents are not eligible for daily affiliate parking rates unless they’ve been approved for a policy exception. To park on campus, residents can purchase a daily visitor permit via AMP Park, hourly parking through COSMO permit dispensers, or a discounted off-peak C permit.
  • Residents who purchase or utilize permits at a rate they are not eligible for could be subject to citation or other penalties, and referral to the Office of Student Support and Judicial Affairs (OSSJA). 

 

Claiming a Resident Permit

  • Instructions for claiming a resident permit:
  • + Navigate to parking.ucdavis.edu.

    + Click LOGIN at the top right corner of the screen, and sign in using your university-issued Kerberos ID and passphrase.

    + Click the “Order Permits” icon from the main menu.

    + Select the housing permit type that is displayed. All permits will show as $0, since any fees that are due will be processed by your leasing office, not Transportation Services. If you believe that the permit type shown in the portal is incorrect, please contact your housing office.

    + Click ADD VEHICLE to enter the vehicle information you wish to assign the permit to, and click CONFIRM. Please note that entries for residents whose housing office restricts permit assignments only to vehicles approved by leasing office staff will be audited to ensure that permits are not assigned to unauthorized vehicles.

    + Read the Terms of Service and click the checkbox to indicate your agreement, then click the red button to “Add Permit to Cart.”

    + Follow prompts to checkout for the $0 balance.

    + You will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes and may begin parking with your assigned permit as soon as the transaction is complete.  There is no need to print or display anything on the vehicle the permit is assigned to. Your permit is valid only in the area(s) designated by leasing office staff, and cannot be used for parking in other permit zones on campus (ie; A, C, L, etc.).  

Street Parking in West Village

Paid permits are required for on-street parking in West Village Monday through Friday (excluding University Holidays), from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and can be purchased via the AMP Park app. To encourage regular turnover, vehicles must be moved every 24 hours.

Current Rates:

  • 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: $2/hour
  • 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.: $1/hour
  • Daily permit and hourly cap: $17/day

 


Campus Resident Policy Exceptions

Campus residents with extenuating circumstances can submit an exception request form for access to affiliate parking rates on the UC Davis campus. First, residents should review their commute options and the Safe Ride program, offering free rides for those who would like an alternative to walking alone or in a small group at night. 

If none of these options are feasible, residents may submit an exception request form. Please include any supporting documentation with your request to be considered.

Generally, exceptions will not be granted for the following reasons:

  • The distance from campus to a permanent residence.
  • Work purposes, unless the position requires the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Social activities or personal obligations.


Requests are subject to verification audits and residents may be asked to provide additional documentation to verify information provided in the request. Students who falsify information in their request will be denied an exception and referred to OSSJA.
