Parking Impacts

Parking Impact in UC Davis Lots

Welcome! - Know what to expect when you park!

The Parking Impact Page is a resource to help you better understand parking demand and plan your commute accordingly. With nearly 30,000 people traveling to and from campus daily, we are mindful of the impacts the commute population has on our surrounding roadways, local neighborhoods, pedestrian and cyclist paths, as well as campus parking lots. Transportation Services is dedicated to being good stewards of our transit resources at UC Davis and we understand that if you drive to campus, you just want to park (not hunt for parking). That's why we work every day to manage transportation and parking demand.

  • How can this data help you?

  • Many of us have some flexibility in our commute. Exercising that flexibility can help you as well as those with no commute flexibility. How? We don't need everyone to adjust their commute, just enough to bring balance to our existing parking areas by distributing to underutilized parking spaces. That's where the data on the Parking Impact Page comes in handy.

Since we’ve implemented ParkMobile, the pay-to-park app, we’ve been able to collect data to show us when and where we have peak ingresses in our parking lots. We look at parking ingress times--the times at which people do park on campus. And if we can predict campus parking conditions, we hope it helps you make a choice on your commute.
  • We're doing our part so you can do yours!
  • No parking stalls in the Quad Parking Structure on Tuesdays from 8-10a? If you are able to adjust your commute time or where you park, you shouldn't run into parking congestion. Just choose to arrive earlier. Park a little further away from your preferred lot and walk an extra 5 minutes. Or, take public transportation, ride your bike (if living in Davis), telecommute--any tweak to your schedule or commute mode can help you as well as others who would rather get on with their day rather than waste time circling a lot for an empty stall.

Where can I park now?

We're breaking it down for you! We've taken a "snapshot" at 9:30 a.m. Monday-Friday, when commuting to campus is at its highest...at least when it's at its highest during a regular week. A regular week is a week when work and learning schedules are steady, creating a predictable commute pattern. An irregular work week might be at the start or end of a quarter, around holiday vacations, summer, or during a special event. Use this Quick Look to set your expectations and plan your commute to campus accordingly.
