As a new UC Davis employee, we encourage you to explore your commute options to find what fits your lifestyle best! For those interested in public transit, services like Unitrans, Yolobus, Solano Express, the Causeway Connection, and Amtrak (Capitol Corridor) connect Davis with surrounding communities. For those who prefer active transportation, Davis is a haven for biking and walking, offering over 22 miles of pathways on campus, allowing you to ride and park right where you need to be.

Parking 101 for New Employees
 

  • Paid parking permits are required Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (excluding University holidays). 
  • UC Davis employees can purchase a daily or monthly permit to park on campus.
  • UC Davis employees are eligible to park in any A, C+, C, L, F, or M zone. Zone types and rates are determined by proximity to campus areas and utilization of parking areas - to help spread the demand of parking.
  • If you need to move your vehicle throughout the day, your parking permit is valid in any equivalent or lower-cost zone across campus. For example, if you purchase an A zone parking permit, you can move to any A, C+, C, L, or F, zone across campus.
  • EV parking parking rates include a fee for up to 4 hours of charging. If you anticipate needing to charge your vehicle, you can buy a permit with EV charging and move between any equivalent or lower-cost zones.
     

 

Daily vs. Monthly Permits

Employees can take advantage of pre-tax savings on parking through the Commuter Card Benefits Program

  • Daily permits can be purchased through the AMP Park app, offering flexibility and cost savings by allowing employees to pay only for the days they are on-site. This is ideal for those with hybrid work schedules. 
  • Monthly permits, also known as the Level Rate Purchase Program (LRPP), are available through the Transportation Services parking portal. Monthly permits are best suited for employees who are reliably on campus more than a few days per week.
  • Follow these steps to purchase a daily permit:
  • + Download the AMP Park app (iOS, Android) and tap "Create Account" (Employees must use their UC Davis email address for access to the lower affiliate parking rates)

    + Tap "Add New Vehicle" and confirm your vehicle information

    + Navigate to the location search bar on the home screen and search for your desired permit (Doesn't matter where it is on the map as long as it's the correct permit type)

    + Select your desired vehicle and tap "Continue"

    + Add your payment method, and tap "Purchase" to check out (Within a few minutes, you should receive an emailed receipt)

    + For future purchases, tap "Reorder" to reorder a pass from your purchase history

  • Follow these steps to purchase a monthly permit:
  • + Visit our online portal and log in with your UC Davis Kerberos ID

    + Select "Order Permits

    + Choose from the available monthly permit options

    + Add your vehicle(s) information and check out

    + After your first purchase, you will receive an email reminder to purchase your monthly permit on or after the 25th of each month for the following month of parking
     

Not Getting the Affiliate Rate?

If you are signed into the AMP Park app with your UC Davis email and still don't have access to the lower affiliate parking rates, please call our office at 530-754-3687 before purchasing a visitor permit for $17. This is likely due to a delay in receiving new hire records in our parking system.

Temporary UC Davis Affiliates
We do not receive the same new hire information for temporary affiliates, so they or a program representative should contact our office as soon as possible after accepting the position. This will help ensure they have access to the appropriate affiliate rate without delays. Temporary affiliates have access to purchase Daily C, L, F, and M permits at the affiliate rate.


Commuter Benefits and Programs

UC Davis employees are eligible for several benefits programs to help support their commute:

  • Commuter Card Benefits Program: Employees can set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for commute-related parking, as well as public transit on systems like Unitrans, Amtrak, Sacramento Regional Transit, Yolobus, and more using the Commuter Card.   • UC E-Bike Purchase Program: UC affiliates are eligible for discounts ranging from 15 to 60% on e-bikes through four nationally recognized vendors. Learn more about the program and benefits of e-bikes here.
  • Yolo Commute Incentives: Employees are eligible for Yolo Commute membership, incentives and programs, including discounted transit passes, quarterly Spin passes, guaranteed rides home, bike education and more. Learn more about what Yolo Commute has to offer here.
  • Motorist Assistance Services: Transportation Services offers complimentary motorist assistance for anyone parking on campus, including lock-out service, tire inflation, and battery jump-starts.
