Heavy Equipment Transition

Heavy Equipment Services is transitioning from Transportation Services to Fleet Services. This change is part of an effort to better serve the campus community by centralizing the rental and repair of heavy equipment to Fleet Services. 

What to Expect:

  • For now, the process to request heavy equipment services will remain the same, and you can continue to submit requests through the online webform. 
  • Equipment will continue to be rented and serviced at the Heavy Equipment Yard located at 2155 Garrod Drive.
  • Over the next few months, we will be working to integrate equipment into Fleet’s software system and will keep you updated on any changes to the request process as the integration progresses.

Heavy Equipment Services

Transportation Services Lease and Repair Heavy Equipment Program provides a fleet of construction and agriculture vehicles available for departmental rental on a recharge basis such as tractors, forklifts and other service equipment. Equipment can be rented short term or long term. Additionally, Transportation Services provides maintenance services for equipment owned by other departments on campus. Operators must be university staff or students with demonstrated experience. Supervisors are responsible for operation and safety training of their staff.

Our comprehensive maintenance shop can provide the following services on a recharge basis:
  • Small and large engines rebuild and repair
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and air system repairs
  • Tire repair and replacement
  • Gas and diesel sales
  • Welding (aluminum, stainless, mild steel) fabrication for repairs
